We Stand in Solidarity – Note From Our Founder/CEO, Umaimah Mendhro

6/16/20 Update: VIDA donated $15k in total to The NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund and The Equal Justice Initiative on June 4th, 2020 in honor of George Floyd’s memorial service.

At VIDA, we stand in complete, unequivocal solidarity with the fight against systemic racism and injustice towards the Black community in our nation and around the world.

Standing with all Black families and our Black colleagues and friends  – artists, makers, entrepreneurs, community leaders, mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers – we will use our resources, our voices, our hearts, our souls, our compassion, our love to take action and fight a just fight. Because we believe silence is acceptance and inaction is complicity.

Throughout the month of June, we will donate 10% of our profits to The NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, The Equal Justice Initiative and the Black Lives Matter cause. And on Thursday June 4, we will donate 100% of our profits in honor of George Floyd’s memorial service.

We will continue to offer VIDA as a platform, a conduit, for our global community of creatives and our Black artists and allies to express their voices through the power of art, to listen and learn, and help drive positive change – today and always.

We don’t yet have all the answers we need to give to our children and our words might not be correct today, but we have to start somewhere. The mandate for justice, compassion, and equality is bigger than any one of us and the responsibility for change is all of ours. If our company can do better, if we can do more, we welcome your thoughts and ideas.
